Ownia is a direct-booking website builder for vacation rental owners. Before guests can book with you directly, you need to add at least one property. This guide walks through the process from start to finish.
Starting the onboarding wizard
If you just created your Ownia account, you’re automatically guided through a 5-step onboarding flow: organization setup, property source, photos & description, pricing, and launch. You can select “Skip for now” at any point and finish setting up later from the Properties page.
Adding a property manually
To add a property at any time, open the Properties page from the sidebar and click Add Property. You’ll be asked to choose one of two starting points:
- Create from scratch — build your listing from a blank form.
- Import from listing URL — paste a link to an existing Airbnb listing and Ownia will pull in the photos, description, and amenities automatically.
If you import from a URL, review the Import Results screen carefully. Fields Ownia couldn’t detect are flagged so you can fill them in yourself before continuing.
Filling in the property details
Whichever path you choose, you’ll land on the New Property form. At minimum, you’ll want to set:
- Property name and type (apartment, house, villa, etc.)
- A short and long description
- Photos — the first photo becomes your cover image
- Amenities
- House rules and check-in/check-out times
- Base nightly pricing
When you’re happy with the details, click Create property.
What happens next
Once a property is created, it appears on your Ownia Web Store — your own branded booking website. From there you can:
- Connect Stripe so guests can pay you directly.
- Sync your calendar with Airbnb and Booking.com to avoid double bookings.
- Fine-tune pricing, cancellation policy, and booking rules from the property’s detail page.
You don’t need every setting configured on day one — Ownia lets you publish a property and refine it over time. The one thing you do need before you can accept a paid booking is a connected Stripe account, which the next guide covers.
